Meet Dana Ware
Attorney at Law
Hello! I’m Dana Ware, Attorney at Law. My training in estate planning helps me serve you with a client-centered approach that gives you clarity and peace of mind toward a life worth living and a legacy worth leaving.
We’ll look at your family dynamics, inventory your assets (and even possibly help you see you have more than you think you do), and then consider the state’s plan for you and the people you love, based on your unique situation.
By facing death in this way, and getting clear on your legal and financial reality, you are able to make life and death choices with a clarity that may have eluded you in the past.
We don’t just help you choose between a will or trust (though we do that too), but we also empower you to take control of your life, clarify your aspirations, and leave a lasting impact that aligns with your values and goals.
Most importantly, you will have the assurance of knowing your loved ones won’t be left with a mess, and that they will be able to make aligned decisions for you, when needed.
I’m here to help you make the very best personal, financial, and legal decisions for your family throughout your lifetime. I will guide you now, and then be there for your loved ones when you can’t be, supporting them during a time that could be the most impactful of their lives. In short, my sole focus is to help families stay out of court and conflict in the event of the death or disability of a loved one, and create lives worth living and legacies worth leaving.
As your trusted advisor, I’d love to start helping you plan for the people you love and everything else you care about today.
I look forward to meeting you!
About Dana Ware
Dana Ware is the founder of the Law Offices of Dana Ware, LLC, where she weaves her legal expertise into a tapestry of legacy planning with Trusts and Estates, and clean energy legal expertise. Her boutique firm holds two vibrant divisions—Hudson Legacy Law, dedicated to crafting bespoke estate plans for families and business owners, and Hudson Energy Law, providing legal services to clean energy businesses and nonprofits since 2008.
Before embarking on her most recent entrepreneurial solo law adventure, Dana served as General Counsel for Core Development Group, a trailblazing solar, storage, and EV infrastructure developer. Her passion for sustainable practices also found a home as a founder and the Board Secretary for Mid-Hudson Energy Transition in Kingston, NY, and as Deputy Director at the Low Impact Hydropower Institute, a nonprofit close to her heart.
Dana’s clean energy journey began just after law school at the Pace Energy and Climate Center, paving the way for her to support clients motivated to save the world with new clean technology, investments to green aging infrastructure, and start up new businesses and nonprofits to empower people and communities to make a better world. She also found her way to teach the next generation about environmental law and energy policy at esteemed institutions like SUNY Purchase and The Cooper Union. Her educational credentials include a J.D. from the Elisabeth Haub School of Law at Pace University, an M.A. in Environmental Conservation Education from NYU, and a B.A. in Music from The Ohio State University.
Dana is also Executive Director of a music nonprofit, Jazz Passengers Music Projects, inc, which builds community through music, word and image, and she is a member of the board of The Wallkill River Center for the Arts, whose mission is to enrich the community through art classes, year-round public art exhibits as well as music, literature, performance and cinematic events, embracing traditional and contemporary art and the living culture of the region.
Dana makes her home in the beautiful Hudson Valley of New York, where she shares life with her two sons and her husband, Bill Ware—a talented jazz musician, composer and producer.
Dana excels at problem-solving, thrives on communication, understands the importance of context, adapts with grace, and believes in the ripple effect of connection. These strengths empower her to guide clients toward achieving their personal and family legacy goals, and/or their business sustainability dreams in a world increasingly eager to go green.
In addition to her legal and clean energy endeavors, Dana manages jazz artists, she co-piloted an artist-owned indie jazz record label back in 2014, and loves to produce and present live concerts. A true believer in the power of music and meaningful living, Dana resonates deeply with Joan Baez’s sentiment: “If you’re gonna sing meaningful songs, you have to be committed to living a life that backs that up.” She also embraces Art Blakey’s wisdom—”Music washes away the dust of everyday life.”
With Dana at the helm, great things are sure to unfold!
